The official expression is "footed pajamas," but we lovingly referred to them as footies or feeties. No matter what you called them, they most certainly bring back memories. In 1967, they were welcomed attire in our home. During the cold winter months, our evening routine would be dinner, bath, "feeties," and a little television watching.
Soft cotton flannel, "feetie" pajamas and television went hand in hand. No need to snuggle under a blanket while wearing these. The insulation provided by the feet, were all that was needed. Well, truth be told, a cuddle with my favorite Teddy bear added to the warmth. :) I'm not sure what my brother and I are watching in these photos, but I do know I was a very big fan of the cartoon, "Felix the Cat." There were so many wonderful cartoons back then, and their theme songs still remain stuck in my brain after all these years. Some of my favorites were "Kimba the White Lion," "Speed Racer," "Winky Dink and You," and "Mighty Mouse," just to name a few. So I will leave you with the opening song to "Felix the Cat." Did you have a favorite cartoon growing up? I would love to hear which one!
Have a swell day!

I loved Felix.. Mighty Mouse..Tom and Jerry..and Johnny Jellybean..and The Friendly Giant..:) ..The latter are not cartoons but my face shows..Oh and Magic Tom.
ReplyDeleteI loved footed PJS and wore some even in my 30's:(
You know which ones I mean..My little grandsons don't like them
Their mommies did:)
Love your flashbacks and pics..Your subject matters are dear.
Hey Maureen, such cute, cute pictures of you and your brother. Did I tell you that I only have a brother. He is younger than me, but we are only 21 months apart. I was in LOVE with Speed Racer. No matter that he was a cartoon character; I really wanted to be his girlfriend. HA! :) Hope your day is great. Tammy
ReplyDeleteP.S. I am sure I had footed pajamas at some point in my childhood. I remember a granny gown from when I was about 6 that I really loved. That's what we called it. No way I could wear anything footed now -- hot flashes are bad enough. :)
ReplyDeleteSure remember those jammies. My kids wore them all the time.
ReplyDeleteOur kids had the same footy jammies - as we called them. No cartoon when I was a kid - way back in the stone age. Our kids loved The Banana Splits though.
ReplyDeleteMy 44 year old boy wore these!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd felix has always been a favorite!
thanks for the fun sunday morning!
I do remember those pajamas with feet. As we grew out of them, my mother would cut off the feet so we could still wear the pajamas a little
ReplyDeletelonger. Cute picture of you.

Hi Maureen, Thank you so much for your note today. You know I have not visited this special place my last time. I am so struck by the photos of you and your brother that you are always right there side by side. My own son and daughter photos are like this as are my own brother and sister photos. You have reminded us all about these special moments by sharing your own. Thanks Maureen!
ReplyDeleteAhh, such memories of a more simple time. And I adore that couch! Have a great week, XOL
ReplyDeleteI like the non footed adult pajamas onesies from funzee (www.funzee.com). I prefer 100%cotton.
ReplyDeleteMy youngest son was 7 in 1967, so I'm very familiar with the pajamas and the cartoons.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures.
I couldn't help but comment today, there's just something special about "footies". I can picture my daughter in her favorite pink ones with a kitty embroidered on the left breast. :)
ReplyDeleteMighty Mouse! I loved that show!
What wonderful images that take you into a special place.
ReplyDeleteHi Maureen,
ReplyDeleteWhat a precious photo of you and your brother and I love how you are concentrating and nothing, not even the camera is going to stop you watching the TV.
Happy halloween
Hugs
Carolyn
Mighty Mouse was one of my favorites adn I loved footed pajamas...especially the ones that snapped at the waist. I liked the one piece ones too. They were extra warm!
ReplyDeleteThat sure brings a lot of memories.
ReplyDeleteWhat About Procrastination
Sweet photos! Even though I grew up on the other side of the world to you - we used to watch Felix and Kimba in the 60"s too.
ReplyDeleteI did not have these pyjamas, but my children did. Love your photos and Happy Halloween!
ReplyDeleteSo cute...I love these footed pjs...does remind me of LOVE and many memories...hugs to you dear one. xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteHA! Little one usually hates wearing PJs to bed, so she usually goes in just undies. I finally got her coaxed into wearing footed PJs last night. She LOVED them.
ReplyDeleteI love footie pjs!
ReplyDeleteLove the PJ's! Thanks for the reminder of many good memories! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteLove, Brenda
I had the one piece footed jammies... the only down side? Going to the bathroom at night time. Yep, there you sat--- bare naked to the world... yet, your feet were still warm. lol
ReplyDeleteOh dear..by the 1960's my children were sitting on the couch watching The Micky Mouse Club...
ReplyDeleteDid I have a favorite cartoon song? I don't think we had any cartoons or even TV back when I was wearing pj's with feeties in them. :(
